KORN GET SERIOUSLY "TWISTED"
IN NEW MINI-MOVIE
For a song that's called "Twisted Transistor," KORN knew they had to come up with a visualization that was mind-blowing, epic and unforgettable--something that would stretch the boundaries of music videos in the same way that the band have pioneered a unique brand of heavy music. For example, KORN pondered: should they even appear in the video? Should the video be restricted by the time length of the song? And was there any reason not to alternate between performance footage and concept scenes without music?
Creatively teaming with director Dave Meyers, KORN made good on their promise to shake up the music video format with the seven-and-a-half-minute visual extravaganza for "Twisted Transistor," the first single from KORN's forthcoming SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE album. Due out December 6 via a global partnership with EMI/Virgin Records, the album was produced by JONATHAN DAVIS along with The Matrix and Atticus Ross.
In the end, KORN decided to call upon their friends to become, well, the members of KORN for this mini-movie. Imagine this: hip-hop titans Lil Jon as JONATHAN DAVIS, Snoop Dogg as JAMES "MUNKY" SHAFFER, Xzibit as FIELDY and David Banner as DAVID SILVERIA. And they did their homework, studying the stage moves and idiosyncrasies of the four members of KORN to create spot-on portrayals that give fans an inside look at the four distinct personalities that make up the band.

Interviews
: Extreme Guitars with Train's Jimmy Stafford

Train's Jimmy Stafford lets his fans get to him!
An Extreme Guitars interview By Dave B. Roberts and some awesome Train fans!
In this edition of Extreme Guitars we are thrilled to welcome back our old friend, Train guitarist Jimmy Stafford. I had the pleasure and opportunity to meet up with Jimmy and Train for the first time last year in Wiston-Salem, NC for an Extreme Guitars AFS interview and just hang out with the guys for the day. I can honestly say that I have never met a more down-to-earth, funny-as-hell group of talented artists. At that time, Jimmy and the boys were in the midst of their tremendous 2005 “My Private Nation” tour and had just released their “Ordinary” single to be featured on the Spiderman 2 soundtrack. Since ending the MPN tour in July 2005, Train decided to take a well-deserved break. They may have taken time off from the road, but during their so-called break, the band had written a library of over 50 songs for next album consideration in addition to releasing two CDs; The “Alive At Last” live cd from the recent tour and the My Private Nation dual-disc featuring tons of cool behind the scenes stuff including a disguised Pat Monahan singing at a karaoke bar and “21 days with Train”. Like the little Energizer Bunny, Train’s My Private Nation album “keeps going and going…” . In early summer 2005, MPN’s “Get To Me” was picked up by Cingular Wireless to be used in their radio and television ads which prompted heavy radio demand allowing the band to release “Get To Me” as their latest single.I am thrilled to, once again talk with Jimmy Stafford, but this time we wanted to do the interview a little differently; We thought it would be cool to have the fans participate in the interview by asking the questions they want to know. I want to thank Jimmy for allowing us this opportunity and also thank his fans for submitting such awesome questions… and the readers, of course! Read on!

: Extreme Guitars with Tommy Shaw & Styx

Extreme Guitars with Tommy Shaw (STYX)
By Dave B. Roberts
Welcome once again to another edition of Ax Facts & Stats. We are thrilled to have Tommy Shaw from the legendary rock super group STYX, as well as Damn Yankees and his many successful solo projects. I generally write a bio blurb about our featured artist here, but who out there hasn’t heard of Tommy, Styx or the many Shaw songs that have become great classics in the world of rock music? Styx songs written by Shaw include "Fooling yourself," "Blue Collar Man" and "Too Much Time On My Hands," and several others. Tommy’s powerful, distinctive guitar playing technique intertwined with his exceptional song writing and vocal skills are all major components in the Styx equation that resulted in the iconic, legendary standing they currently embrace and have justly earned. Tommy joins us from the road as he and STYX tour in support of their latest effort entitled Big Bang Theory due for release on May 4, 2005. Buy the album and check Styx out Extreme Guitars, but first, read this.

Tom Petty Review 7-20-05 DTE Music Center
A sold out show of all ages flocked to Clarkston, MI to witness Tom Petty and his Heartbreaker band take a time capsule back to the 80’s. Not a single person was disappointed. The DTE venue has to be the finest place to attend a concert. The beautiful landscaping surrounding the outdoor stage and pavilion is second to none. The acoustics of this marvelous venue once known as Pine Knob (a.k.a. - ‘The Knob’) shine above all other venues. Tom Petty took the stage following a bluesy, rocking set from the reunited Robinson Brothers and their Black Crowes. The night was all Petty. No big stage show, just a band and their music. The generation gap was filled for that moment when adults and children alike were singing in unison to the timeless Tom Petty songs. It was awe-inspiring. Tom Petty pranced around stage rousing the screaming fans and pleasing all with hit after hit. Petty started the show with a flawlessly tight sounding “Listen to her Heart”. Then the fragrant aroma of the 70’s was very evident as he broke into “You Don’t Know How It Feels”. Every song was a masterpiece perfected by a veteran musician. Rain was threatening the lawn seat fans, but no person was interested in anything but the music. The sound was pure, the stage show, modest, the songs, classic, and the night unforgettable. We would like to thank Tom Petty and his management group for inviting ‘On Tour’ to the show. Rock On!!
